excerpt from full post:
2 Cor. 8:9, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you – by his poverty – become rich.”
Won’t you esteem the poverty He endured, by prayerfully listening to part one of yesterday’s message (first 41 minutes), before hearing what you being rich in God’s approval is supposed to look like (through part two, the final 24 minutes)?
His Poverty, your wealth, 65 minutes
Western Christianity asserts that part of Palm Sunday’s message is “believers” didn’t get what they wanted. Part two discloses within its first two minutes that part of having the wealth of God’s approval includes being killed! It felt quite awkward saying that, as God’s Spirit had His way with me in the pulpit and those words crossed my lips without any forethought whatsoever. Imagine my surprise to see the news later in the day, that Coptic Christians were killed for their faith on Palm Sunday – great is their treasure. And just like the Living Personality in our midst – Jesus! – said, the murderers thought themselves to be serving God (John 16:2-3).
Won’t you move – with God’s influence – out of misunderstanding, serving your own appetite and straying to manifest (make plain) the true wealth of living in God’s approval, that is His Words made alive by your steps?
I mean no disrespect to you, audience. This message will either grease (comfort) you or strike you, depending on where you are found in God’s Word.
